Gynaecological Oncologist

Dr Marcelo Nascimento is a certified gynaecological oncologist who specialises in the surgical treatment of known or suspected tumours of the female genital tract. His areas of expertise include the management of patients with pre-cancer lesions as well as cancer of the ovary, endometrium, cervix, vulva, and vagina. He also has special interest in providing minimally invasive surgical options for his patients, including laparoscopic procedures.

Originally from Brazil, Marcelo graduated from Medical School in 1993. He received his Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1996 and his General Surgical Oncology Certificate in 1999. He then completed one year as a research fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and later became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. After further three years of subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in Brisbane and at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney he joined the Mater team.

Marcelo is a consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at the Mater Mothers' Hospital and the Gold Coast Hospital. He conducts his private practice at the Mater Medical Centre and is currently Senior Lecturer of the University of Queensland. He is co-investigator in several clinical trials.

Marcelo joined Eve Health as an Associate in 2009.
