Michael graduated from Otago University, New Zealand and completed his training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Hawkes Bay and Christchurch, NZ.
Following his interest in minimally invasive surgery, Michael completed a two year Fellowship with A/Prof Alan Lam at the Centre for Advanced Reproductive Endosurgery in Sydney. A third year of Fellowship was completed in Glasgow, Scotland.
Michael then spent two years in Cambridge, England as Consultant Gynaecologist at Cambridge University NHS Trust, Addenbrookes Hospital.
Whilst in Cambridge, he taught and demonstrated advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery to Specialists around the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Since 2006 Michael has provided public, Queensland wide tertiary referral services for complex endometriosis cases at the Mater Adults and QE2 Hospitals. He is also a VMO at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Michael provides Intermediate care at Mater Adults and QE2 Hospitals.
Michael is a co-founder and Director of Eve Health with private consulting rooms at Southbank, Brisbane. He provides private surgical services at Mater Private, and the Wesley Hospital. Michael is a Senior Fertility Specialist with the Queensland Fertility Group.
Michael continues his passion for teaching minimally invasive surgery by demonstrating and coaching trainees and Specialists in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland Medical School.
His special interests are the laparoscopic management of severe endometriosis and large fibroids with a focus on preserving fertility. Michael is known for his friendly, down-to-earth and pragmatic approach to women and their partners.

Advanced Integrated Training Program in Minimal Access Pelvic Surgery. A/Prof A Lam
Organise, coordinate and teach five, 5 day courses per year for 8 O&G specialists and trainees in advanced gynaecologicalendosurgery. Each CARE program has a clearly defined syllabus and incorporates intensive one week on site training with a focus on clinical skill development, advanced laparoscopic procedures, complication prevention, management and teamwork.
