In working as a resident at Toowoomba Base Hospital he developed his interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and was offered his first registrar position. He subsequently trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mater Hospital, Brisbane, and Nambour General Hospital.
